The innovative Tanita BC-601 incorporates the latest segmental technology to analyse the body in five segments: the arms, legs and core abdominal area, providing you with in-depth information on body fat and muscle mass percentages. Segmental body composition analysis is ideal for enhancing sports performance as it allows you to identify any physiological and biomechanical imbalances and tailor your regime to improve fat and muscle mass distribution. Results are shown on an extra-large LCD colour display and the handset features a retractable cord ensuring it fits snugly into the main unit. Body composition data for up to four users is automatically stored on the SD card (included) and can be downloaded onto a computer where it can be viewed and managed using the free Tanita Bodyvision software (Windows and English only). For a more in-depth analysis of your data including extended graphs, the BC-601 can also be used with GMON Personal software.

Body Fat Percentage is the proportion of fat to the total body weight. Body Fat Mass is the actual weight of fat in your body.

The daily minimum level of energy or calories your body requires when at rest (including sleeping) in order to function effectively.

What is metabolic age? (Applicable age 18 - 99)

This is calculated by comparing your basal metabolic rate (BMR) to the BMR average of your chronological age group. If your metabolic age is higher than your actual age, it’s an indication that you need to improve your metabolic rate. Increased exercise will build healthy muscle tissue, which in turn will improve your metabolic age. Stay on track by monitoring regularly.
