Let’s cut to the chase: A lot of people are hitting the gym because they want to lose weight. While that is an admirable goal, it should not be your main focus. Our health expert Simon Bradeley explains why you should NOT just focus on losing weight and how it can in fact make you fatter.

What weighs more: a pound of feathers or a pound of stone?

This playground favourite might not fool everyone, but it does capture the essence of Simon’s reasoning: not everything weighs the same. While feathers are large in volume but small in weight, a stone is the opposite... The same goes for fat and muscle. Fat has large volume but low weight. Muscle, on the other hand, is a lot heavier but more compact. Only focusing on weight doesn’t take this into account at all
